Beyond Medical Practice - Dr. Stuti Khare Shukla and Her Role at Miss Universe India 2026

When people think of a dermatologist, they usually picture a doctor in a clinic, treating skin and hair concerns. Dr. Stuti Khare Shukla has spent years doing exactly that. Yet her professional path has also taken her onto one of India’s biggest beauty stages. In August 2026 she served as a jury member and Skin and Hair Expert at Miss Universe India 2026, an experience that brought her medical expertise into the heart of a major national pageant.

Dr. Shukla is an MD Dermatologist and globally acclaimed hair growth specialist, widely regarded as a pioneer in non-surgical hair growth treatments. After completing her medical training in India, she pursued superspeciality fellowships in trichology in the United States, Singapore and Bangkok. She learned from respected figures such as Dr. Zein Obagi in Los Angeles and Dr. Michael Gold in the US. As Chief Dermatologist and Medical Director of Elements of Aesthetics, a chain of clinics spanning Mumbai, Hyderabad, Dubai and Central India, she has treated more than one lakh patients globally at a young age. Her work combines clinical practice with research that has earned recognition in leading American journals and publications. Over time she focused particularly on hair loss and non-surgical restoration, developing treatment approaches carefully tailored to individual patients.

Recognition followed. In 2017 she was named the Youngest Dermatology Icon of India. Later awards included the Times Power Women of India recognition in 2020, the ET Inspiring Women Award in 2021, the Big FM award for Best Hair Growth Specialist in 2023, and both the Times Network Best Trichologist Award and the Navabharat Best Trichologist Award in 2024. That same year she also spoke at a TEDx event.

Her connection with the pageant world began in 2024, when she joined a prominent national beauty pageant as Hair Care Expert and sat on the jury for a special segment. Working with state winners gave her a practical sense of how skin and hair health support the confidence and presentation contestants need. That experience led to a larger platform. On 23 August 2026, Dr. Shukla took her place on the jury at the Miss Universe India 2026 finale in Jaipur, Rajasthan. She shared the panel with well-known personalities including Sushmita Sen, Celina Jaitly and Urvashi Rautela, as well as former Miss Universe titleholders.

During the final competition she asked a very mindful question to one of the top finalists: “Are followers and social media influence becoming more important than actual poise, intelligence and advocacy, and can a girl with massive following on social media but average skills buy her way to the crown, to the visibility?” The finalist’s reply reflected a thoughtful view of the issue: “I believe that social media has a huge and great impact in today’s world. If we talk about followers, I don’t think so followers matter so much. What truly matters is your authenticity and what you are bringing on social media, what you are showcasing, the impact you are making. No matter how much shared you are getting, but if you are true to yourself, I think you are going the right way.”

A pageant judges more than appearance. Communication, stage presence and overall composure all matter. Dr. Shukla’s background in dermatology and aesthetics offered a specialised perspective on the preparation that goes into those qualities. Her presence on the Miss Universe India jury showed how professional knowledge from outside the traditional entertainment world can add value to the process.

Looking back, the journey feels natural rather than surprising. Years of medical training, clinical practice and a growing interest in the practical side of presentation brought her to that stage in Jaipur. Miss Universe India 2026 marked a clear moment when her work in skin and hair health met one of the country’s most visible beauty platforms. For Dr. Stuti Khare Shukla, it remains an important chapter in a career that continues to move between the clinic and wider public spaces.
