Bishan Madappa K J from Karnataka has been selected as one of the national finalists for the upcoming Mr. India Universe competition, scheduled to take place from October 6 to October 12, 2025, in Jaipur, Rajasthan. The grand finale of the competition will take place on October 11, 2025 at Zee Studios. At the culmination of the event, the first Mr. India Universe titleholder will be announced. The competition is organized by the Glamanand Group, franchise holder of world-renowned Miss Universe beauty pageant based in the United States.

Bishan Madappa K J was born in Coorg and raised in Virajpet. He is a 6’2” tall model and actor currently based in Bengaluru. Belonging to a Kodava family, Bishan is a graduate in Arts (BA) and is a polyglot, fluent in 7 languages including Coorgi, Kannada, English, Hindi, Tamil, Malayalam and Telugu. Alongside his professional pursuits, Bishan is skilled in horseback riding and off-roading, and is also a former national-level hockey player. Growing up amidst the misty hills of Coorg, Bishan’s early years were rooted in simplicity, nature and sport. His passion for hockey took him to Bengaluru after school, where he chased his dream of becoming a professional player. Despite suffering a major knee injury that required surgery and sidelined him for almost a year, he made a remarkable comeback, competing at the 9th Hockey India Junior Men National Championship in 2019 and representing various regimental teams across India. Unfortunately, recurring complications forced him to step away from his dream of representing India on the international stage. Refusing to be defeated, Bishan channelled his energy into new opportunities. While working with a leading automobile company, a chance encounter introduced him to the world of modelling. What began as curiosity soon transformed into passion. He entered a modelling competition and went onto win it. Encouraged by this recognition, he quit his job and committed fully to modelling and acting. Bishan faced financial struggles and the uncertainty of breaking into a competitive field. Yet, with the unwavering support of his family and his own resilience, he built his career step by step. Over time, he worked with renowned designers and brands, gaining credibility and recognition for his discipline, dedication and professionalism. Today, Bishan stands as an embodiment of perseverance and reinvention. From the hockey fields of India to the fashion runways and sets, his journey reflects his belief that setbacks are never the end—they are simply the beginning of a new path. This October, he will travel to Jaipur to compete for the title of Mr. India Universe.
