Raghavan Viswanathan from Puducherry has been selected as one of the national finalists for the 2026 Mr. India Universe competition. The national finale of the competition is scheduled to take place later this year. At the culmination of the event, the new Mr. India Universe winner will be chosen.
Raghavan Viswanathan is an entrepreneur, freelance model and engineering graduate from Puducherry, where he was born, raised, and is currently based. He holds a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering and is fluent in English and Tamil, with working knowledge of Hindi and the ability to read and write German. Alongside his entrepreneurial pursuits, he has cultivated a strong passion for modelling, fitness, dance, art, and personal development. A talented painter and western dancer, Raghavan was recognised as the Best Artist during his school years and represented Puducherry at the National Level Painting Competition, securing fourth place. He was also honoured as a Rashtrapati Scout and graduated as a college topper, reflecting his commitment to excellence in both academics and extracurricular activities. His interests include cricket, travelling, and spending time with his dog, while his long-term aspirations include becoming a successful model, entering the Tamil film industry, promoting fitness and mental well-being, and ultimately being remembered as a kind and humble human being.
Raghavan's journey has been defined by courage, conviction and an unwavering commitment to following his passion. Although he earned a fully funded admission for a Master's programme at a public university in Germany, he made the life-changing decision to decline the opportunity in 2021 after realising that his true calling lay in media and modelling rather than a conventional engineering career. During the challenging years of the COVID-19 pandemic, he dedicated three years to preparing for the UPSC Civil Services Examination, clearing the preliminary stage twice, an experience that strengthened his discipline, resilience, and perseverance. To support himself financially, he worked as a Production Executive while simultaneously transforming his physique and building a career in modelling through freelance assignments, brand campaigns, and content creation. Today, as a Mr. India Universe finalist, Raghavan views the platform as another important milestone in pursuing his dreams. Through his journey, he hopes to inspire others to embrace their individuality, trust their instincts, and pursue the paths that truly fulfil them, believing that genuine success is measured not only by achievements but also by the character, kindness, and positive impact one leaves behind.
Mr. India Universe is a national competition for men in India. It is organised by Glamanand Entertainment Pvt. Ltd., the Indian franchise holder of the globally renowned Miss Universe competition. The event is spearheaded by its founder and chairman, Nikhil Anand, and serves as a platform for aspiring male models and personalities from across the country. Following a nationwide audition process, some of India's most talented and promising contestants have been selected to compete in this year's national finale. Before the grand finale, the finalists will undergo an intensive series of grooming and training sessions designed to enhance their confidence, communication skills, personality and stage presence. The contestants will arrive at the finale venue, where they will participate in a schedule of official photoshoots, pre-finale activities, rehearsals and a range of preliminary events leading up to the grand finale. At the culmination of the competition, the reigning Mr. India Universe, Bishan Madappa from Karnataka, will ceremonially relinquish his title and award his successor.
