She is currently pursuing a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science Honours and has developed a well-rounded personality through her academic interests and extensive training in the performing and fine arts. Fluent in English, Hindi, Bodo and Assamese, Pinky is able to connect with people across diverse backgrounds while remaining closely rooted in her Assamese and Bodo heritage.

Her creative journey began at an early age and has been shaped by a strong foundation in music, dance and fine arts. Pinky’s entry into pageantry came with her participation in Miss Bodoland 2024. Stepping outside her comfort zone for the first time, she found herself in an environment that required her to express not only her artistic abilities but also her personality, confidence and individuality. She was crowned the 2nd Runner-Up, an experience that became an important turning point in her life. More than the title itself, the journey taught her to embrace challenges, believe in her abilities and recognise her own potential.

In 2026, Pinky took another significant step in her journey by winning the title of Miss Universe Assam. The achievement marked a meaningful milestone for the young model, who had long dreamed of pushing beyond her limitations. Her victory represents not only her progress in pageantry but also the confidence she has built through years of discipline, artistic training and personal growth.

With her background in the arts, academic pursuits and growing experience in pageantry, Pinky Basumatary now looks forward to representing Assam at the national finals of Miss Universe India 2026, carrying with her the aspirations of a young woman who continues to challenge herself and dream beyond the boundaries she once knew. The competition – Miss Universe India, is owned by one of the biggest beauty pageant organizations in the world – the Glamanand Entertainment Pvt Ltd (popularly known as the Glamanand Group). The organization was established by its founder and president, Nikhil Anand in the year 2013 and gradually it became one of the leading beauty pageant producers in the world. At the conclusion of this year’s Miss Universe India competition, the reigning titleholder, Manika Vishwakarma from Rajasthan will crown her successor, who would later go onto represent India at the prestigious Miss Universe 2026 competition, scheduled to happen by end of this year in Puerto Rico.
