Sarangthem Nirupama Devi from Kakching Khunou was crowned Miss Universe Manipur 2025 at the state finals of the competition held on May 2, 2025. She was crowned by the outgoing titleholder, Danube Kangjam, Miss Universe Manipur 2024. Nirupama will now represent the state of Manipur at the upcoming edition of Miss Universe India competition, scheduled to take place in the coming months.
Nirupana is a student of Psychology and is currently based in New Delhi. She is a content creator and social media influencer. Winning the title of Miss Universe had been a childhood dream for Nirupama. As a child, growing up in a conservative Indian family, her focus had always been on excelling in academics, however, she used to secretly dress up like a beauty queen and envision her winning moment in front of the mirror. This May 2, she took her first steps towards fulfilling her childhood by winning the Miss Universe Manipur title. Alongside her inclination towards academics, she is also interested in cooking and trying different makeover looks. She is a trilingual and can speak English, Manipur and Hindi.
As the representative of Manipur at Miss Universe India, she stands for a powerful message - spreading love and promoting global peace. Growing up witnessing several conflicts and crises like poverty and unstablity, she has seen firsthand how deeply these issues impact lives, especially to children. Her advocacy centres around protecting children's rights and raising awareness about the growing concern of cyber harassment. She believes in putting humanity first - beyond all boundaries of religion, caste or community - and encourages compassion and understanding in every corner of society.
In the coming months, she will be seen walking down the stage at the 2025 Miss Universe India contest, representing the state of Manipur. The competition is owned by one of the biggest beauty pageant organizations in the world – the Glamanand Entertainment Pvt Ltd (popularly known as the Glamanand Group). The organization was established by its founder and president, Nikhil Anand in the year 2013 and gradually it became of the leadings beauty pageant producers in the world. At the conclusion of this year’s Miss Universe India competition, the reigning titleholder, Rhea Singha from Gujarat will crown her successor, who would later go onto represent India at the prestigious Miss Universe 2025 competition, scheduled to happen in the month of November in Thailand.
