Shaswati Bala from Kolkata was crowned Miss Universe West Bengal 2025 at the state finals of the competition held on May 20, 2025 in Siliguri. She was crowned by the outgoing titleholder and Miss Universe India 2024 (3rd runner-up), Sushmita Roy. Shaswati will now represent the state of West Bengal at the upcoming edition of Miss Universe India competition, scheduled to take place in the coming weeks.
Shaswati Bala is a model, content creator and entrepreneur from Kolkata. A graduate in fashion design from the National Institute of Fashion Technology, Kolkata, she began her journey by modelling for her own college assignments, which helped her overcome shyness and build confidence. After facing setbacks in Mumbai, she returned home and worked tirelessly hard to pursue her passion. Her dedication paid off as she gained recognition through state-level pageants and steadily built her presence in the fashion industry. Today, Shaswati not only works with top professionals but also gives back by offering free grooming sessions to aspiring models and she has trained over 500 models till date. Through her content, she shares her journey to inspire others and continues to advocate for confidence, perseverance, and social causes like supporting children with cancer. A trilingual, fluent in English, Hindi and Bengali, Shaswati also enjoys singing and continues to strive for excellence in all that she does.
In the coming months, she will be seen walking down the stage at the 2025 Miss Universe India contest, representing the state of West Bengal. The competition is owned by one of the biggest beauty pageant organizations in the world – the Glamanand Entertainment Pvt Ltd (popularly known as the Glamanand Group). The organization was established by its founder and president, Nikhil Anand in the year 2013 and gradually it became one of the leading beauty pageant producers in the world. At the conclusion of this year’s Miss Universe India competition, the reigning titleholder, Rhea Singha from Gujarat will crown her successor, who would later go on to represent India at the prestigious Miss Universe 2025 competition, scheduled to happen in the month of November in Thailand.
